Using a PCMCIA Card With An ExpressCard Laptop: The AirCard Conundrum
Yeeeah … This is a problem
You've paid and it is time to get that new laptop you always dreamed about. In order to head off to the store, get new (insert brand name here) laptop and bring it home to check out your booty. They are thrilled when everything works great until you try in your Internet Plug cellular PCMCIA card. Then you realize that do not fit the map! What to do?
In Express Card muscling
This is a scenario thatmore and more computer manufacturers will roll out a new laptop with the newer, faster ExpressCard standard. And with the advent of this new technology is the decline of the PCMCIA standard, which is more and more rare. Although the Express Card offers much higher speeds and a more compact form, the slim design helps keep laptop, speed of rollout has caught the ExpressCard manufacturer endeavor with the demandExpress Cards as a consumer looking to replace their existing PCMCIA cards. Perhaps the most common problem is that while there are now versions of most of the Express Card PCMCIA cards are few, if any, viable alternatives for EVDO, EDGE, GSM or Internet PCMCIA CardBus cards.
EVDO Wireless Router
There are several possible solutions to this problem. The first would be a special stand-alone router buy a CardBus slot designed specifically for an intended wirelessInternet map. This router is the cellular signal from the AirCard and converts it into a WiFi signal that can be of a standard 802.11b / g wireless adapter can be picked up. The 3G Phoebus is in this class of router.
Express Card to PCMCIA
Another solution is to use an ExpressCard to PCMCIA adapter. This adapter is your ExpressCard slot available, and allows you to connect your Wireless AirCard (via cable, and a connected receiver) for your laptop.
USB-to-Cardbus Adapter
The best available solution for this problem is a USB to PCMCIA adapter to use. This adapter consists of a USB cable, an adapter, designed to be able to paste your cellular PCMCIA card is connected. Simply plug the USB port on the computer and make a simple installation of Internet use, Wireless Express Card with your new laptop.
